Sicilian Basket Orange and Yellow Maison de Mode Solimene Art x Muzungu SistersOur traditional Sicilian 'coffa' basket is handcrafted by an older generation of artisans in Sicily using local palma nana straw, and adorned with orange and yellow pom poms, mirrors and buttons. A basket weaver near Palermo heads to the mountains to collect the palma nana straw and weaves each basket by hand. The baskets then travel to the east coast of Sicily where they are adorned in the ancient Sicilian tradition. It takes three days to make each
