Constructed of hollowed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by three Imperial German tri colours, with a central inscription of VATERLNDISCHER HILFSDIENST (PATRIOTIC ASSISTANCE), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, stamped with an identification number of 07656, an inscription of SER. 5, and a makers mark of C. E. JUNCKER, BERLIN,
